Volunteers in Camborne campaigning on the energy crisis

We were out in Camborne this weekend talking to people about the energy crisis and Labour’s plans to lower costs. A good number of members turned out and we made contact with a lot of people, many of whom were angry about soaring bills. The government is doing nothing; meanwhile people are having to choose between eating and heating.

We handed out leaflets explaining Labour’s plans to bring in fully-funded measures to reduce the expected price rise in April, saving most households around £200 or more, with targeted extra support for pensioners and the lowest earners who would receive up to £600 off bills. This would pay for this with a one-off windfall tax on North Sea Oil and Gas producers who have profited from price rises. There are also plans to regulate the market better.
