• We had a fabulous time at St Piran’s Day in Redruth on Saturday! The sun shone, the parade was first-rate and the cake was sublime (thank you Kayleigh’s Cornish Cakes!).

We set up stall so we could listen to what Redruth had to say and we were busy all day. Thanks to everyone who came to talk to us and take part in our poll. The messages we received were very clear. The majority don’t want a Mayor for Cornwall, think the GP two-week target is unacceptable, would like affordable housing linked to local wages rather than market rates, and think the UK is a worse place to live than it was in 2010.

Too many people still aren’t aware that from May, they will need to show photo ID when they vote at a polling station. Of those that were aware, quite a few didn’t know that they can apply for a Voter ID Certificate from Cornwall Council. We pointed out to quite a few people that they won’t need voter ID for a postal vote.
